Philosophy for Children

Should junk food be banned for under 16's? Take 1!

This group of year 4 children are working on asking questions, adopting roles within a discussion and trying to use more formal language structures within a discussion as part of our work on embedding oracy. This shows their initial discussion, prior to any adult input.

Should junk food be banned for under 16's? Take 2!

After watching their initial filmed discussion, they recognised the repeated use of the word 'like' and we discussed trying to use more formal language of discussion. This was their second attempt and you can see them really thinking through what they are going to say and trying to make more deliberate language choices.
